Ugh, so I realized, that if I do end up leasing Keane, I'll have quite the walk. haha.

Basically, my barn is divided up into 3 barns. There's the main barn, that has the grooming stalls, wash rack, arena, etc, etc. Then there's the red barn, which is down the drive way a good ways (This is where Keane lives.) and then there's the training barn. Which I don't know if it is really for training or not, since my friend's fully trained horse lives out there. Anyway.

The pasture Keane lives in by the red barn is rather large, and the last time I went to go visit him,I spent 10 minutes catching him. Haha. He had his hay and I saw his green butt and I walked over and stood there, and he just kinda looked at me, before I finally had to go do something. Now, just imagine that in the middle of winter! Yay.

Oh yay for cold!

ANywho, thought I'd share. (: I ride him again tomorrow, so I promise, more pictures. I'm actually bringing my camera this time!

I`d attempt to feel sorry for you, but living in Canada with winters shrouding us in regular temps of -40 for three straight months and not having even a barn, much less an arena, I don`t have much sympathy for anyone  We spend the entire winter riding in open knee deep fields of snow with the wind trying to kill us. Now THAT`S passion! I don`t know how people can `not ride`during winter - give me a break!

I agree with everything Moki said but I loath the wind...I can handle -40 but the wind is the icing on the cake. I'm looking forward to the knee deep snow though ever since Moki mentioned it'll make it much more effort to try and buck for the youngsters we have going! I never looked at it that way...won't do more than walk and some trot, mostly because cantering here in winter turns into a bit of a "bunny hop" instead of anything resembling smooth. Snow can be a good training aid though!

You guys get a bit colder than I do, but I am in upstate NY about 1 hour from Canada but it does get pretty darn cold here too. We ride all year long and outside in the winter as well...no indoor arena to be had at my barn! I hate the cold too but there is something about throwing on a pair of carharts, my waterproof work/snow boots and hoping on a horse in the brisk cold air that makes my smile :P GOD I LOVE HORSES! We are actually even putting snow pads on Firle this year and those little cleat things on her front shoes for traction. She can be a bit clumsy
